AMY HEIM
I am a local dentist born and was raised in Scioto County. I graduated from Wheelersburg with aspirations to be a graphic designer but while working at a local dental office, I saw myself as a young female dentist. I had an “epiphany” and decided to go to Dental School. I graduated from Shawnee State University in 2009 and headed to The Ohio State University to become a dentist.
The first three months being away from home were rough and I missed the quiet life that rural Southern Ohio offers. Two years at OSU, I met a man that continues to charm, love, and support all my visions. After getting engaged, I moved to Akron Ohio for a year residency and we spent the year apart. After residency, we married at St. Peters, the church where my Mom and Dad were married 33 years ago almost to the day. In one year, we got married, I moved from Akron, my husband moved from Columbus, we moved to Scioto County, and bought Dr. Steven Fitzer’s dental practice. That was an eventful first year!!
I practice as a solo private practice dentist in an office with the world’s best dental staff. I couldn’t do my job without my wonderful team. I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to come home and find Dr. Fitzer and buy his practice. We completed renovations on the practice and have recently started a new project.
In my spare time I enjoy interior design and home renovation. I watch HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” all the time and am always inspired by Joanna Gaines! I love art and design, creating meaningful smiles, sketching my dreams and visions and making them a reality. My husband and I enjoy traveling the United States and exploring new cities. We travel to Cleveland all the time where my husband’s family and friends. I see my Mom and Dad all the time and cherish that I am that lucky enough to have such an amazing family and support system We also love to cook together, listen to a little Sinatra and enjoy a nice glass of wine. Any time outdoors enjoying Mother Nature is time well spent - hiking, camping, four-wheel riding, and weekend picnics.
I was always in the chorus growing up and was in the Show Choir in high school. I performed, sang and danced, did set design, and have always enjoyed the arts immensely. I participated in SOMC’s Red Stocking Review in early 2001 and have been itching for the opportunity to get back on stage! When asked to dance for the Red Cross and raise money for this awesome organization, my immediate answer was “Wooohoo! YES!!! This is going to be so much fun!”
My husband and I just bought my Grandmother’s farmhouse in Wheelersburg and are having a blast redesigning and renovating the house. I’m thankful and ever blessed that my Mom and Dad live across the pasture from us and are always up for helping out with our “fixer upper.” We’ve had an exciting first year and a half since our move back to Scioto County and we certainly don’t let grass grow under our feet!
My partner Jeremy Slusher and I promise you an exciting performance. To be so lucky to meet a group of driven, humble, and community knitted people is an awesome experience. I have always told everyone I met from up north, that no one can touch the support that our community holds. The Red Cross embodies that spirit and offers our region comfort and stability in time of need. The Red Cross is always planning and is always there. I’m honored to raise funds and to give to a community that has already given me so much. My heart and soul has always and will always be in Southern Ohio and I am so happy to finally be home after five years away.
We would appreciate your support by voting HERE. Every dollar donated equals one vote for me and a donation to support the American Red Cross, Ohio River Valley.
