The newest group of “Star Dancers” for the American Red Cross Dancing With Our Stars fundraiser were introduced Friday night at a kickoff party held at the Elks City Club sponsored by Port City Café and the Garage Café. The ten community personalities competing to raise the most funds to support the local Red Cross and their semi-pro dance partners include:
Sharma Brown – A hair designer and owner of Headquarters dancing with Tim Angel
Jonica Burke - Director of Budget and Financial Analysis at Shawnee State University dancing with Ladd Dunham
Brent Eaton - Dean of Students at Wheelersburg Middle School dancing with Dianne Coriell
Attorney John Gambill dancing with Heather Cate
Realtor and Developer Neal Hatcher dancing with Elizabeth Scott
Taylor Newman, RN - King’s Daughters Medical Center Ohio dancing with Autumn Thompson
Rita Prose - Social Worker, Hillview Retirement Center dancing with Jordan Nickels
Portia Spradlin – AllState Insurance Agent dancing with Alex Richardson
Dr. T.J. Stidham - Southern Ohio Medical Center Pediatric Associates dancing with Ashlyn Howie
Sarah Surina - Executive Director of Main Streets Portsmouth dancing with Carl Hairston
This group of dancers will spend the next four months dancer learning a dance which they will perform at Dancing With Our Stars 2015 sponsored by Southern Ohio Medical Center. Scheduled for March 21, 2015 at the Friend’s Community Center, the second season of Dancing with Our Stars was presented to a sell-out crowd and generated more than $97,000.00 to support the local Red Cross programs in the community. Francesca Hartop, CEO of YEI Incorporated took home the Fundraising Mirror Ball Trophy after raising $14,000 for personal fundraising for the Red Cross. Not only do those in attendance support local efforts, so can those not attending as the “star dancers” receive votes in the form of donations to the Red Cross. One dollar equals one vote. The star raising the most money will be awarded the coveted fund raising Mirror Ball Trophy. All funds raised support local disaster prevention, preparation and relief, the life-saving training of first aid, CPR/AED classes, collection and testing of blood and blood products, support to military members serving around the globe, the transportation program and international programs.
